THE ORPHANAGE

With historical links to Saint Mary MacKillop and originally known as "St. Joseph's Home for Boys", the orphanage situated at Kincumber, was established in 1887 , and finally closed in 1974. The property is still used today as a retreat and conference centre. 

Once or twice a year when conditions are right, the landmass and estuary surrounding the little hamlet are inundated by heavy fog, giving an ethereal and painterly effect when witnessed from above.
